ALI SHARPE NAMED E8 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Jan. 17, 2005) -- Ali Sharpe, a freshman forward on the Nazareth College women's basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week for the seven-day period ending Jan. 15.

A native of Rochester, N.Y. and a graduate of Aquinas Institute, Sharpe averaged 8.3 points and five rebounds per game in three games of the JPMorgan Scholarship Tournament. She scored a career-best 13 points in Saturday's consolation game loss to Roberts Wesleyan.

Overall, Sharpe has appeared in all 12 games for the Golden Flyers in 2004-05 and has helped the team post an 8-4 record.

Nazareth plays again this weekend with conference home games against Elmira Friday and Ithaca Saturday.
