NAZARETH LOSES TO ROBERTS IN CONSOLATION
Golden Flyers (8-4) host Elmira, Ithaca next weekend

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Jan. 14, 2005) – Second-seeded Roberts Wesleyan built a 45-19 halftime lead Saturday and went on to take a 78-52 victory over Nazareth in a women's basketball consolation game from the JPMorgan Chase Scholarship Tournament at RIT.

The Golden Flyers won their first-round tournament game at Geneseo last Tuesday, then lost to St. John Fisher in the semifinals Thursday. The loss to Roberts gave the Golden Flyers a fourth-place finish and dropped their overall record to 8-4.

Roberts dominated Nazareth from the outset, scoring the first nine points, from which Nazareth nevert recovered. The lead grew as large as 28 points, 41-13, before the half ended.

Freshman Ali Sharpe (pictured) was Nazareth's high scorer with a career-best 13 points. Sophomore Michelle LaBrecque added 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Roberts Wesleyan's Judy Wright led all scorers with 21 points.

Nazareth is idle until next weekend when the Golden Flyers host Elmira (Friday) and Ithaca (Saturday) in Empire 8 Conference action.
