NAZARETH FALLS TO RIT IN FINAL SECONDS, 59-57

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Jan. 25, 2005) – Nazareth continued to struggle in women's basketball Tuesday as RIT's Ramata Diallo led the Tiger offense with a game-high 21 points in a 59-57 victory over the Golden Flyers.

The win boosts RIT's Empire 8 record to 2-3, with an overall record of 6-9. Nazareth's fifth straight loss dropped the Golden Flyers to 1-4 in conference play and 8-7 overall.

Nazareth finished the first half with a 25-24 lead before the Tigers came back in the second half and took a six-point lead with 13:44 remaining. Nazareth's offense, led by Sarah Homer (pictured), was able to tie the score, 46-46, with 10:18 left in the half. Nazareth had closed the gap and built up a seven-point lead before allowing RIT's offense to break through. Homer made a pair of free throws with :57 left to put Nazareth ahead for the last time, 57-55.

Diallo, however, gave RIT the edge for the win as she scored with :10 left in the half to even the score at 57. Then, with :03 remaining, Diallo scored the winning basket off an inbound play following a Nazareth turnover.

Homer and Kate Gagliardi both reached double figures. Homer finished with 17 points, equaling a career-best, while Gagliardi 10. Sara Shipley added nine points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Flyers look to improve their record as they travel to Utica Friday at 6 p.m.
