N.Y. (Jan. 22, 2005) – Ithaca's senior Stephanie
Cleary scored a game-high 32 points as the Bombers
rolled past the host Golden Flyers with a 66-53
win Saturday in women's basketball. The Bombers
remained unbeaten in the Empire 8 Conference with
a 5-0 record, and a 9-5 record overall.
Nazareth, with their fourth straight loss, holds
an Empire 8 Conference record of 1-3, and a 8-6
record overall.
Nazareth finished the first half with a 23-21
lead before Ithaca staged a second-half rally.
Nazareth never regained the lead, but managed
to come within four points with 12:53 remaining
in the half. The Bombers pulled away late in the
second half thanks to the strong offense led by
Cleary, who scored 20 over the last 20 minutes.
Alex Ivansheck added nine points to seal the win.
Seniors Sara Shipley and Kate Gagliardi both
reached double figures. Shipley (pictured) finished
with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Gagliardi
added 11 points.
The Flyers hope to improve their record as they
host the RIT Tigers Tuesday at 6 p.m.
