N.Y. (Jan. 7, 2005) – Host St. John Fisher
used a 12-0 scoring run to snap a 39-39 tie and
went on to take an 82-62 victory over Nazareth
in women's basketball Friday.
The game was the Empire 8 Conference opener for
both teams. Nazareth had a five-game winning streak
snapped and fell to 6-2 overall. St. John Fisher
is 8-0 overall.
A pair of free throws by Sara Shipley tied the
score at 39 with 17:07 left to play before Fisher
scored 12 straight points over a four-minute span
and the Cardinals' lead never left double digits
thereafter. The Golden Flyers made just 9 of 36
second-half shots, including just 2 of 12 from
three-point range.
Senior guard Jaimee McGivern (pictured) scored
14 points to go with eight rebounds, five assists,
and 10 steals. Sophomore Sarah Homer also scored
14 points and Sara Shipley added 12.
Nazareth visits Alfred University Saturday for
another Empire 8 Conference matchup at 2 p.m.
