NAZARETH TOPS ELMIRA IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE
Golden Flyers finish 13-11 overall

ELMIRA, N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2005) – Visiting Nazareth outscored Elmira 36-30 in the second half Saturday to break away from a halftime deadlock and went on to take a 69-63 victory in women's basketball.

The game was the final regular-season game for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 13-11 overall and 6-8 in the Empire 8 Conference. Elmira, with one game remaining, is 8-16 overall and 3-10 in conference play.

The game was tied 33-33 at halftime, then the teams exchanged three-point baskets to start the second half. Nazareth's Sarah Homer then drilled a three-pointer with 18:25 left to give the Golden Flyers a 39-36 lead that they never relinquished.

Nazareth's lead grew as large as nine points, 65-56, on a pair of free throws by Ali Sharpe with :49 left. Senior Jaimee McGivern helped seal the win by hitting three foul shots in the closing seconds.

McGivern (pictured) scored 13 points to go with six rebounds and five assists. Homer also scored 13 points, including four three-pointers. Sharpe had 12 points and eight rebounds and Sara Shipley had 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
