ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Feb. 4, 2005) – Sara Shipley led Nazareth with a game-high 17 points while Ali Sharpe grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds to lead the Golden Flyers to a 59-45 victory over Alfred Friday night in women's basketball. The Golden Flyers improved their conference record to 3-5 and 10-8 overall.

Shipley, who scored 11 of her points in the first half, is now just nine points away from becoming Nazareth's 11th player to score 1,000 career points.

Nazareth took a 33-25 halftime lead and led by as many as 10 points with 9:24 remaining in the half. The Flyers then took a 17 point lead with 5:31 remaining in the second half thanks to strong offensive play.

In addition to Shipley, Sharpe (pictured) added 12 points, while Kate Gagliardi had seven.

Alfred's Michelle Kelly led the Saxon offense with 12 points, while Kylene Knoll added 10 points and seven rebounds.

In other Empire 8 conference matchups, Elmira defeated Utica 89-72. This now puts Nazareth two games behind fourth-place Utica for the Empire 8 conference tournament.
