UR TOPS NAZARETH IN OVERTIME, 74-71
Corey McAdam scores 23 for Golden Flyers

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Nov. 21, 2006) -- Freshman Corey McAdam (pictured) scored a career-high 23 points Tuesday, but host Rochester held off the Golden Flyers in men's basketball, 74-71 in overtime.

Both teams are 2-1 overall following the non-conference game.

The Golden Flyers trailed for a good portion of the game, but they finally caught up when freshman Rayvon Higdon nailed a three-point shot with :03 left in regulation to tie the score at 63-63.

In overtime, Nazareth took the lead, 66-63, on a three-pointer by Joe Canori (18 points). UR regained the lead on two free throws by Jon Oniyiriuka and a basket and a free throw by Jeff Juron. McAdam's jumper with 2:40 left tied the score for the final time at 68-68.

Baskets by Oniyiriuka and Juron made it 72-68, but a three-point play by Canori brought Nazareth to within 72-71 with :48 left. Mike Chmielowiec sealed the win for the Yellowjackets with a pair of free throws with :19 left. Nazareth's last chance to tie came on another desperation shot by Higdon, whose's three-point shot was off the mark.

McAdam played all 45 minutes for Nazareth and made 7 of 16 shots from the field and 9 of 10 free throws. He also grabbed eight rebounds and passed for seven assists. Canori's 18 points came on 6 for 16 shooting. He also had four steals. Tyler Smith had nine points and eight rebounds and Jeff DeHimer added eight points. Nazareth played without guard Brian Ameneiros, who sprained his ankle in Saturday's game against Fredonia.

Oniyiriuka had 19 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for UR. Juron contributed 15 points and Uche Ndubizu had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Nazareth is off until Dec. 5 when the Golden Flyers host Oswego in a non-conference game at 7 p.m.
