ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Jan. 23, 2007) -- Visiting RIT made 54 percent of its shots from the field and 84 percent of its free throws Tuesday the the way to an 86-79 men's basketball victory over Nazareth at the Kidera Gymnasium.

The victory was the second of the season for RIT over Nazareth and the 11th straight over the Golden Flyers since the 2002-03 season. RIT is 9-7 overall and 3-2 in the Empire 8 Conference. Nazareth fell to 7-9 and 2-3.

RIT disposed of Nazareth by taking advantage of some torrid shooting -- both from the field (25 for 46, 54.3 percent) and from the free throw line (31 for 37, 83.8 percent). Nazareth, meanwhile, made only 16 trips the foul line and made 11. The Golden Flyers shot 31 for 65 from the field (47.7 percent).

The Tigers made 16 of 27 shots (59.3 percent) in the first half to take a 48-37 lead. RIT led by as many as 14 points at three different times in the first half.

In the second half, Nazareth battled back and used a 15-1 scoring run to go from a 62-50 deficit to a 65-63 lead with 7:38 to play. Freshman Corey McAdam (pictured) and junior Joe Canori fueled the comeback by combining for 13 points during the run, which was capped by a layup by Leon Hill off an assist from McAdam.

Nazareth's lead was shortlived as RIT tied the score again on a pair of free throws by Tim Bacon with 6:54 left. The game was tied on three more occasions before RIT gradually pulled away by making free throws. Bacon made one of two with 5:09 left to give the Tigers the lead for good, 71-70. After that Barrett Zeinfeld made four free throws and Kenny Gethers and Colin Roy each made two in the final three minutes.

Zeinfeld led the Tigers with 22 points, including four three-pointers. Bacon added 19 points and nine rebounds and went 9 for 12 from the foul line, where he was shooting under 40 percent for the season coming into the game. Gethers had 18 points, including 10 of 11 free throws.

McAdam led Nazareth with 23 points, nine assists and three steals. Canori added 21, including three three-pointers.

Nazareth returns to action Friday and Saturday for more Empire 8 Conference action. The Golden Flyers host Hartwick Friday at 8 p.m. and division-leading Utica Saturday at 4 p.m. (WHTK-AM 1280 / www.whtk.com).
