NAZARETH EXPLODES PAST PITT-BRADFORD, 81-61

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 19, 2006) -- Junior Tyler Smith and freshman Corey McAdam (pictured) each came off the bench for Nazareth Tuesday to lead the Golden Flyers to an 81-61 non-conference men's basketball victory over visiting Pitt.-Brafdford at the Kidera Gymnasium.

The Golden Flyers, playing for the first time since Dec. 5, improved to 3-2 overall. Pitt.-Bradford had a seven-game winning streak snapped and fell to 7-3 overall. The Golden Flyers are back home again Thursday to play Old Westbury in another non-league game at 7 p.m. (WHTK-AM 1280 / www.whtk.com).

Smith and McAdam, both from Fairport, combined to make 16 of 21 shots from the field while combining for 16 rebounds. Smith totaled a game-high 22 points, while McAdam finished with 19 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

McAdam, who made 8 of 9 shots from the field, scored 12 of his points in the first half as the Golden Flyers built a 15-point advantage before settling for a 36-24 lead at the break. Nazareth also benefitted from a commanding rebounding advantage, 24-8, over the first 20 minutes. Sophomore Jeff DeHimer (Scotia, NY) was especially dominating in the first half in grabbing eight of his 10 rebounds.

Nazareth's lead continued to grow in the second half as Smith scored 13 of his points and junior Joe Canori (Webster Thomas) added 11 of his 13 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Nazareth made 31 of 65 shots from the field and finished with a 49-26 rebounding edge. DeHimer scored 11 points and three blocks in addition to his 10 rebounds. Other noteworthy numbers included six assists for freshman Rayvon Higdon (Edison Tech) and a career-best nine rebounds for junior Leon Hill.

Jon Hannon was Pitt.-Bradford's high scorer with 13 points. Aaron Stang added 12.
