NAMED E8 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AGAIN
ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2007) -- Corey McAdam, a freshman
guard on the Nazareth College men's basketball
team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie
of the Week for the seven-day period that ended
Feb. 18, 2007. It marks the fifth time this season
that McAdam has been honored as the E8's top rookie.
A native of Fairport, N.Y. and a graduate of
Fairport High School, McAdam led the Golden Flyers
to victories in their final two regular-season
games last weekend as Nazareth finished the season
at 11-14 overall. He recorded a triple double
in Friday's 71-56 victory over Elmira with 11
points, 11 assists and a school-record 10 steals.
Against Ithaca in Saturday's season finale, McAdam
scored 19 of his game-high 25 points in the second
half as Nazareth overcame a four-point halftime
deficit to win 84-80. McAdam's two free throws
with 3:23 to play gave Nazareth the lead for good.
He went on to score six more points in the final
minute to preserve the win. Against Ithaca, he
also had nine assists and four steals.
McAdam completed the season as the Golden Flyers'
second leading scorer at 14.6 points per game.
He also broke a single-season Nazareth record
with 81 steals and ranks among the national leaders
in that category at 3.2 steals per game. He also
ranks in the top 10 in assists at 7.4 per game.
