ROCHESTER,
N.Y. (Nov. 23, 2004) – The University of
Rochester, ranked third nationally in Division
III, jumped out to an early 8-2 lead and expanded
the lead to 22 points at the half enroute to a
76-53 win over visiting Nazareth in men's basketball
Tuesday night.
After hot shooting led the Golden Flyers to a
2-0 start on the season, the Yellowjackets cooled
off Nazareth, who shot just 40% from the floor,
and 28.6% from behind the arc. Nazareth was led
by senior Ryan Shipley (pictured), who scored
13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Freshman Joe
Canori added 9 points for Nazareth.
Seth Hauben paced the Yellowjackets with 13 points
and 9 rebounds. Jon Onyiriuka and Ryan Mee added
12 points each and Brendan McAllister scored 11
points. For the game, Rochester shot 11-23 from
three-point range.
Nazareth's next game is Dec. 3 versus Wesleyan
at the Skidmore Tournament.
