SHIPLEY NAMED EMPIRE 8 PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Nov. 22, 2004) -- Ryan Shipley, a senior center on the Nazareth College men's basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending Nov. 21.

A native of Macedon, N.Y. and a graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School, Shipley helped Nazareth open its 2004-05 season with two victories at the New York University Tournament in New York City. Shipley scored 43 points in victories over Washington & Lee and host NYU and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

In Sunday's championship game against NYU, Shipley made 9 of 14 shots from the field and combined 22 points with eight rebounds as Nazareth won 80-74. He added 21 points in Saturday's 85-61 victory over Washington & Lee.

Nazareth visits the University of Rochester Tuesday for a non-league game at 7 p.m. (WYSL-AM 1040).
