OSWEGO OUTSCORES NAZARETH TO STAY UNBEATEN
Shipley leads Nazareth with 19 points, 14 rebounds

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 7, 2004) – Visiting Oswego spoiled Nazareth's home opener in men's basketball Tuesday as the Lakers remained unbeaten by taking a 78-63 non-conference victory over the Golden Flyers.

Sophomore guard Nick Perioli scored a game-high 23 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field, including 4-for-5 from three-point range to keep Oswego unbeaten at 6-0.

Four others finished in double figures, led by senior Dave Ponza's 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore forward Mat Burridge added 12 points and junior Ahmad Mims had 11.

Oswego built a 40-32 halftime lead and Nazareth never recovered. The Golden Flyers closed to within three points on three occasions in the second half, but Oswego pulled away down the stretch.

Senior Ryan Shipley led the Golden Flyers (3-3) with 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Freshman guard Brian Ameneiros (pictured) added 13 points and freshman Joe Canori had 10.

Nazareth will have an opportunity for revenge Friday as the Golden Flyers play Oswego again in the opening round of the Joe King Tournament at the Kidera Gymnasium at 8 p.m. RIT plays Mitchell College in the other first-round matchup. The championship game is Saturday at 3 p.m. The consolation game is at 1 p.m.
