N.Y. (Feb. 18, 2005) – Ithaca's Jim Bellis
scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Friday
as the host Bombers defeated Nazareth in men's
basketball, 76-68.
The Bombers scored the first basket
of the game and never trailed against the Golden
Flyers, who fell to 8-16 overall. Nazareth closes
out its 2004-05 season with a game Saturday at
Elmira at 4 p.m. (WHTK-AM 1280).
Ithaca led 35-28 at halftime and
the lead grew as large as 18 points, 58-40, with
12:30 to play. Nazareth stormed back to within
one, 69-68, on a pair of free throws by Brian
Ameneiros with 3:12 left. The Golden Flyers didn't
score again and Ithaca used baskets by Bellis
and Brian Andruskiewicz and a pair of free throws
by Brad Clemente to pull away.
Freshman guard Joe Canori (pictured)
led the Golden Flyers with 23 points. Junior Justin
Fladd added eight points. In addition to Bellis
for Ithaca, Jesse Roth scored 13 points and Nate
Thomas had 10.
