(pictured) equaled a career-high
Friday with a game-high 22 points to lead host
Nazareth to a 72-54 victory over Elmira in an
Empire 8 Conference men's basketball game.
The victory was the first in conference
play this season for the Golden Flyers, who improved
to 6-8 overall. Elmira is 1-3 in E8 action and
1-12 overall.
Nazareth led 33-30 at halftime
and never trailed in the second half. The Golden
Flyers led by as many as 21 points.
Canori, of Webster, N.Y. and a
graduate of Webster Thomas High School, made 7
of 16 shots from the field, including four three-point
baskets. He went 4-for-4 at the foul line. Canori
also scored 22 points in Nazareth's win at New
York University back in November.
Nazareth shot 52 percent from
the field for the game (26-for-50) and made 10
of 21 three-point tries. Junior Mike DeBlois made
three three-pointers for nine points. Freshman
Ryan McAdam also reached double figures with 12
points.
The Golden Flyers play again Saturday
against E8 rival Ithaca at 4 p.m. The game will
be carried on local radio station WHTK-AM (1280).
