CANORI NAMED EMPIRE 8 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK AGAIN

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Dec. 13, 2004) -- Joe Canori, a freshman guard on the Nazareth College men's basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week for the seven-day period ending Dec. 12.

A native of Webster, N.Y. and a graduate of Webster Thomas High School, Canori helped Nazareth to a third-place finish in its annual Joe King Tournament over the weekend. He scored 15 points in a 90-50 victory over Mitchell College in the tournament's consolation game. In three games last week, Canori averaged 12 points and shot better than 55 percent from the field. It marks the second time this season that Canori has been honored as the conference's top rookie.

Through eight games this season, Nazareth is 4-4 and Canori is the team's second leading scorer at 11.4 points per game and is the team leader with 13 three-point baskets.

Nazareth is off until Jan. 7 when the Golden Flyers open their Empire 8 Conference schedule at St. John Fisher at 8 p.m.
