CANORI NAMED EMPIRE 8 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Nov. 22, 2004) -- Joe Canori, a freshman guard on the Nazareth College men's basketball team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week for the seven-day period ending Nov. 21.

A native of Webster, N.Y. and a graduate of Webster Thomas High School, Canori helped Nazareth open its 2004-05 season with two victories at the New York University Tournament in New York City. Canori had 32 points in victories over Washington & Lee and host NYU and was selected to the all-tournament team.

In Sunday's championship game, Canori equaled a game-high with 22 points. He shot 7 for 12 from the field with six three-point baskets as Nazareth won 80-74. He added 10 points in Saturday's 85-61 win over Washington & Lee.

Nazareth visits the University of Rochester Tuesday for a non-league game at 7 p.m. (WYSL-AM 1040).
