his third season, Groot had a break-out season for the Golden Flyers
in 2003-04, starting 24 of the team's 25 games. . . averaged
9.4 points and 5.6 rebounds and displayed versatility by making
14 three-point baskets and finishing second on the team with 63
assists. . . reached double digits in scoring 11
times, including a career-high of 28 in a home-court victory over
Keuka Jan. 17, 2004. . . had a career-high 15 rebounds
in an overtime win at Keuka Feb. 24, 2004. . . 2002-03:
played in 25 games, including four as a starter. . . shared
team Rookie of the Year honors with Caswell Smith. . . contributed
4.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. . . scored
a season-high 18 points in a home-court loss to RIT Feb. 4, 2003. . . Scholastic:

there. . . played three seasons of varsity basketball
and led the team in scoring (17 ppg.) and rebounding (8 rpg.) in
2001-2002 while earning team MVP honors as well as first-team Finger
Lakes League all-star honors. . . also named to the
Section Five Class A all-tournament team for 2002. . . finished
as school's fourth all-time leading scorer. . . selected
to play in Ronald McDonald Senior all-star game as well as Western
Region team at 2001 Empire State Games. . . also
excelled in lacrosse and football. . . helped lacrosse
team win Section Five Class B titles in 2000 and 2001. . . helped
football team capture Finger Lakes League titles in 2000 and 2001.
