ABOUT THE ARTS CENTER

The Nazareth College Arts Center, which houses the departments of Theatre Arts, Music, and Art, has entertained almost three million people at performances since it opened in 1967. The Arthur J. and Marie M. Callahan Theater -- a thrust stage with seating for 1,128 people -- welcomes approximately 75,000 people annually, including more than 25,000 children at school performances.

The Nazareth College Arts Center is committed to:

  • presenting quality artists and quality artistic events;
  • enriching the cultural lives of our students and the community;
  • presenting those events not otherwise represented in the area;
  • showcasing emerging arts and artists; and
  • establishing strong relationships with the community whenever possible.

The Arts Center has been the main presenter of dance in the area, both modern and ethnic, and continues that tradition this year with such diverse and respected performers as the Ballet Folklorico de Mexico, Tango Buenos Aires, Georgian State Dance Company, Ballet Hispanico and the Parsons Dance Company. The Arts Center is also a lead presenter of quality children's theater and continues that with performances by nationally known children's theater companies and through partnership with Rochester Children's Theatre.
