Nazareth’s 1992 championship men’s lacrosse team celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, and members of the team checked in with updates on their lives.

Joe Alden '94 (18)

Defenseman from Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Lives in Yokohama, Japan, and works as an F/A-18 pilot for the U.S. Navy. Married to wife Gwendolyn for 14 years and has three children: Eleanor (11), Allyson (9), and Ensley (8). Favorite memory: "Easy ... beating the Statesmen in their stadium."

Matt Arthur '94 (26)

Attackman from Edgewood, Md.

Lives in Irondequoit, N.Y., and works as a software engineer for Quality Vision International, Inc. Not married. Favorite memory: "Being on the bottom of the pile after Marty [Kelly] scored the game-winning goal at Hobart. Kind of makes everyone that was part of that special team famous in a way."

Lives in Cortland, N.Y., and is co-owner of M&D Deli and Central City Bar & Grill. Married to wife Pam for 19 years and has two children: Anthony (14) and Vincent (12). Favorite memory: "Ronnie [Davis] going off for six goals, three assists in the championship game."

Attackman from Six Nations, Ont.

Lives in Six Nations of the Grand River Territory, Ontario, and works as director of lacrosse for the Iroquois Lacrosse Program. Married to wife Carmel Dawn for eight years and has five children: Jacob (18), Shantel (13), Erin (11), Chloe (5), and Jared (2). Favorite memory: "Beating Hobart, in Geneva, then crushing Roanoke at Franklin's Field on my 21st birthday! This was such a special team, there are so many great memories, it is difficult to try pinpoint one. Being part of the Nazareth College community and the lacrosse team was one of the major highlights of my career. Nya:weh. (Thank you.)"

Lives in Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., and works as a stay-at-home dad. Married to wife Kerri for 12 years and has two children: Kailey (6) and Brianna (2). Favorite memory: "Going to play at Franklin Field in Philadelphia for the national championship game and seeing Cam Bomberry nearly lift the goal off the ground with one of his shots."

Lives in Charlotte, N.C., and works as senior creative artist for Shook Kelley, Inc. Married to wife Tara for three years. Favorite memory: "The opportunity to be part of such an immensely talented group of lacrosse players with strong senior leadership and coaching. And beating Hobart in their house."

Midfielder from Bethpage, N.Y.

Lives in Apex, N.C., and works as director of business operations for Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Married to wife Denise for seven years and has two children: Sofia (7) and Guilia (4). Favorite memory: "I reflect often on the chemistry of that team; it was very special. We truly loved playing together, suffering together, laughing together, and ultimately winning together. The whole equaled way more than the sum of the parts."

Lives in Brighton, N.Y., and works as enterprise account manager for Cisco. Engaged to marry Jami Cummings and has four children/stepchildren: Ryan (11), Katrina (9), Parker (9), and Quinn (5). Favorite memory: "While driving over to Franklin Field, we passed by the parking lot where all of the parents, former players, friends, and fans were tailgating. As we drove by on the bus, they held up signs and cheered wildly. It was both awesome and emotional to see the greatest group of parents and fans prepping for the game and providing us that extra incentive to win the national championship."

Goalie from Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Lives in Fort Edward, N.Y., and works as a licensed private investigator and owns Saratoga Executive Protection Services. Married to wife Helene for one year and has one child: Isabella (6). Favorite memory: "I was only a freshman, but I was proud of the fact that I had the opportunity to play in the national championship game. I've also been able to maintain contact with many of the people on the team and the conversations always picks up where they left off."

Lives in Pittsford, N.Y., and is self employed. Married to wife Lorrie for 13 years and has two children: McKenna (9) and Hannah (6). Favorite memory: "Against Hobart in overtime, I passed the ball to Marty [Kelly] and he scored the winning goal. I remember that it crossed my mind not to pass it to him."

Lives in Baldwinsville, N.Y., and works as president of Ice Builders, Inc. and Sports Builders, Inc. Married to wife Lynn for 18 years and has three children: Taylor (15), Ryan (13), and Emma (9). Favorite memory: "Beating Hobart at Boswell and looking back at the great senior leadership we had."

Midfielder from Canandaigua, N.Y.

Lives in Mendon, N.Y., and works as vice president of sales northeast for Nuvasive. Married to wife Carolyn and has four children: Jeffrey (10), Henry (7), Angela (4), and Morgan (2). Favorite memory: "The moment we entered the locker room after the championship game and were greeted by speakers playing U2's song One, which had become a fixture for the team throughout the season. I remember the calm that came over the room, as we all sat and reflected on the moment."

Lives in Victor, N.Y., and works as a sixth-grade teacher in the Rush-Henrietta School District and has coached high school lacrosse for 16 years. Married to wife Jackie for 13 years and has three children: twins Emma and Colin (10) and Noah (7). Favorite memory: "I remember all the preparation that went into everything and all the team bonding. No one wanted to go home. Everyone just wanted to keep playing. There were a lot of life lessons that year, and that was a pretty big deal for a 21-year-old kid."

Lives in Bohemia, N.Y., and works as indirect territory manager for Sprint. Married to wife Traci for 10 years and has two children: Jack (8) and Kadi (6). Favorite memory: "Taking a lap around our home field with all the seniors on our last official practice. Coach Nelson made a point to us that by making it through the playoffs we had controlled when our last practice would be. It was also nice being able to jog as slowly as we wanted for once."

Favorite memory: "We had amazing leadership in Scott Nelson and our team captains that drove our team to work hard and play together. They helped us realize that our goal of winning a national championship was possible even with a team as powerful as Hobart in the way."

Lives in Vienna, Va., and works as an elementary school principal at Fairfax County Public Schools. Married to wife Mehagen for 13 years and has two children: Connor (7) and Aiden (18 months). Favorite memory: "We had a cast of characters that genuinely got along and liked to be together. It was a special bond that was shared and will not be forgotten."

Favorite memory: "1992 semifinals at Hobart pile jump at the end of overtime. Every Naz student who was there jumped the fence and jumped on the pile. It was the shot heard round the lax world ... by Marty Kelly."

Favorite memory: "I had the opportunity to see Marty Kelly at the Final Four in Boston, and it brought back great memories. It was an honor getting to play with such a talented group of players."

Favorite memory: "After we won the championship and had a nice celebration, I remember walking to the press conference and seeing [Jim] Cornicelli and [Jeremy] Hollenbeck out on the field shooting on the goal for the fun of it."

Lives in Fairport, N.Y., and works as a salesman for PPC John Mezzalingua Associates. Married to wife Lara for 12 years and has two children: Caitlyn (11) and Brendan (8). Favorite memory: "Our last practice at Naz. Coach Nelson had all the seniors stay and run around the field one last time. I remember thinking, 'Why do we have to run two laps after practice?' We ran and none of us complained or even spoke to each other. When we were done, we walked into the hallway near the locker room. The rest of the team formed two lines and clapped for us as we walked toward the locker room. I remember fighting back the tears because I knew then that it was all worth it."

Favorite memory: "The whole lacrosse experience at Nazareth was memorable. I came from a small high school program and was able to play with some great players."

Favorite memory: "After beating Hobart, I remember [Head Coach Scott] Nelson saying that the good news was that we were going to play for the national championship. The bad news was that the Hobart guys would have a one-week head start on finding a summer job."

Lives in Syracuse, N.Y., and works as director of budget and financial analysis at Syracuse University. Married to wife Kimberly for 11 years and has two children: Julia Marie (6) and Olivia Michelle (5). Favorite memory: "My favorite memory is the ring ceremony. For me that was the first time I was able to comprehend the magnitude of what the team had accomplished. Moreover, having the entire team back together to celebrate our accomplishment was amazing."

Favorite memory: "Our special chemistry and acceptance of each other (remember, I was 34 years old) and the coaches cognitively instilling 'Give it all you got, men, and if you fall and can’t get up, we (the team) will come out on the field and help you!'"
