An important component of the minor is its interdisciplinary approach to understand the cultural, political, and sociological issues that impact the healthy development of youth. Students are required to take one sociology course that explores social environment, and one course that explores concepts of multiculturalism, multiple styles of learning, gender or inclusion.

- CYD 483 – Community-Based Youth Development Internship (3 credits)
- CYD 480 – Community-Based Youth Development Capstone (3 credits)

- PSY 221 – PII Development I: Childhood & Adolescent (3 credits)
- PSY 224 – PII Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood (3 credits)
One course in the student's major that is approved by the director of the minor; or an elective approved by the director of the minor.
Internship
- CYD 483 -- Community-Based Youth Development Internship (Required)
- 120 credit hours for one semester
- Must be approved by the director of the minor
- Students must have at least Junior standing with a GPA of at least 2.5
- All other college internship policies apply
