Community Service Opportunities
Get Connected Through Service!
The Department of Community Service provides opportunities for service, leadership, involvement, and civic engagement in partnership with local and international schools and organizations. The programs advance student learning by increasing the understanding of social problems, strengthening social responsibility and heightening an understanding of human diversity while responding to the challenges of our community.
Distinctive Programs:
Orientation Day of Service: Part of the college orientation, new students grouped into teams provide an afternoon of service.
Community Service Floors: First year students housed in Kearney Hall and upper class students housed in George Hall who are dedicated to performing community service.
Partners for Learning: This tutoring and mentoring program hires Nazareth students to work in urban classrooms and community education centers. Students are paid through the Federal Work Study Program.
Partners for Serving: Students are placed in human service agencies to provide mentoring, tutoring and activities for youth and adults. Students are paid through the Federal Work Study Program.
Homework Help: Nazareth students, faculty and staff tutor and mentor high school students aspiring to attend college.
Service Breaks: Immerse yourself in a new environment and culture for a week. Students to perform community service as a team at local, regional, and international site.
International Service Exchange to England with Leeds Metropolitan University: Naz students travel abroad to learn and provide service at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Community Service Blog: This blog highlights student service work and provides a list of upcoming service projects.
Volunteer Fair: Hosted during the Fall and Spring semesters, the fair is your opportunity to meet with organizations looking for volunteers!
Service Project Advisement: Get connected to one of the existing programs here are Naz or start something new! We provide advisement, leadership development, and support for community service projects.
