The President's Civic Engagement Awards

Should you have any questions about these awards please contact Nuala Boyle ( or x2670)

This awards ceremony celebrates students, faculty, staff and community partners who "make a difference in their own world and the world around them." We gather to share our service stories, and honor and celebrate the vibrant organizations with whom we serve. We also gather to celebrate the commitments that Nazareth students, faculty and staff make towards leading a civically engaged life, volunteering time and talents to our community, and inspiring others to become caring, active and informed members of our society.

The following areas of recognition are awarded to students, faculty, staff and community partners at the annual President’s Civic Engagement Awards: Community Service Awards, Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards, and Service-Learning Champion Awards. For the Community Service Awards, the campus community nominates each other and the President’s Civic Engagement Awards selection committee chooses the recipients. The campus community nominates each other as well for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Award and the Multicultural Affairs Committee selects the recipients. The Center for Service-Learning, along with the Service-Learning Scholars, choose the Service-Learning Champion Award recipients.

In working towards the College’s mission, “to inspire dedication to the ideal of service to their communities” we believe that these awards will provide an opportunity for the Nazareth community to reflect on the value of civic engagement in their lives, and to learn how very possible it is to make a difference.

This year the awards are on Tuesday, April 22nd at 4:00 PM with a reception afterward in the Otto Shults Community Center Forum.
