Deepening Student Learning While Enhancing the Common Good

The Center for Civic Engagement improves student learning through community service, service-learning, and other civic engagement activities. Through their involvement students develop the understanding, commitment, and confidence to lead fully informed and actively engaged lives.

The Center for Civic Engagement serves as a resource for students, staff and faculty who want to learn and serve in the context of the local, regional, national and global communities. The Center is also a point of contact for community members seeking College involvement with local organizations, programs and projects.

Programs that the Center for Civic Engagement provides are:

  • Service Learning – students participate in credit-bearing academic courses, which incorporate meaningful community service experiences, directly related to course theory and objectives.
  • Community Service Opportunities-- students volunteer or participate in work study with the programs of Partners for Learning, Partners for Serving and many on-going or one-time service options.
