The Casa Italiana’s children’s camp celebrated its 19th anniversary last July with two groups of enthusiastic participants – 96 in total! The children learned about the cultural heritage of Italy as they studied the language during week-long sessions. When they weren’t practicing their language skills, the children enjoyed Italian cooking, games, history, traditions, Ferrari and Vespa demonstrations, and visits by musicians and soccer players.
The camp utilizes classic Montessori teaching methods. Led by Judi Mazziotti, a Montessori methods teacher, the young students are encouraged to explore their individual interests in order to cultivate their natural desire to learn.
This year’s camps will include Session I, for children ages five through seven, to be held July 22-26, and Session II, for children ages seven through ten, on July 29 - August 2. Sessions are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Casa Italiana LeChase Lounge. Registration for Casa members is $145 per child and for non-members $195 per child. Members may pre-register during the month of March, on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is limited and members are encouraged to register early.
