Training Classes

Red Cross CPR and AED

Nazareth College offers training and certification in Red Cross Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The classes involve a combination of video direction and practice on manikins. The materials for this training have been updated during June 2011. Many students require this training for their majors or work assignments.

This training is offered free to Nazareth College students, staff, and faculty. Classes must have a minimum of 5 students but are limited to a maximum of 20. Resulting from the class is certification for a period of two years.

Two different types of classes are available:

Full Class: These classes require 3 hours to complete. Anyone can take these classes. There is no previous knowledge required.

Recertification: This class is for individuals who have current certification and who are confident in their CPR/AED skills. For this class, no teaching or instruction will occur. Individuals must successfully demonstrate the proper skills in various scenarios with no help from the instructor. You must present a current CPR certification card to take a recertification class. To complete a recertification class, you will sign-up for an individual 20 minute session. If you do not successfully complete the recertification, you will need to complete a full class.

Below are four review documents for individuals participating in a challenge course. Additional materials are on reserve in the library at the reserve desk.
