In May 2008, Nazareth College partnered with LISAA (L’École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués), a private graphic arts college in Rennes, France. Located in the historic heart of Rennes, the capital of Brittany, LISAA provides an opportunity for Nazareth students to spend a semester or year abroad taking art studios, as well as the possibility of doing an art internship in Rennes. Rennes is known for its distinct medieval architecture and is home to two large universities, creating a youth culture and “a magnet for musicians and artists”, according to a 2011 New York Times article.
Each year LISAA students arrive at Nazareth for the spring semester to study in the BFA in Visual Communication Design program. As part of their cultural immersion, they live on campus and study English. Nazareth provides an extensive array of extracurricular activities. Classes are small and students get to know their professors and classmates, which creates a strong sense of community and a network of support.
