Fulbright-Hays Grantees

The US Department of Education's Fulbright-Hays Program awards grants to individual American K-14 teachers and administrators, pre-doctoral students and post-doctoral faculty, as well as to U.S. institutions and organizations. Funding supports research and training efforts overseas, which focus on non-western foreign languages and world area studies. Nazareth proudly recognizes several of our own as Fulbright-Hays Seminar Abroad winners.

South Africa (2008)

Dr. Dev will participate in the "Student Achievement and Workforce Development in Disadvantaged Populations in South Africa" seminar. The program will focus on how educators prepare students from diverse backgrounds for both postsecondary study and the workplace while ensuring academic success.

Dr. Campbell participated in the "Australia -- New Country, Old History" seminar and traveled throughout the country.

Prof. Otieno Kisiara

Morocco (2004)

Dr. Kisiara traveled throughout Morocco, participating in seminars with Moroccan scholars and studying the status of women in Islamic culture.

Prof. Sharon Murphy

Egypt (1997)

Dr. Murphy participated in a seminar in Cairo entitled "Egypt: A Perspective on the Middle East."  She traveled around the country and attended lectures on the culture, society, politics and economics of Egypt, and conducted research on the political philosophy of Islamic theorist Sayyid Qutb.

Prof. Dennis Ritchie

Colombia (1997)

Dr. Ritchie participated in the "Colombia, Many Countries in One:  Economic Growth, Environmental Sustainability, Sociocultural Divergence, and Biodiversity" seminar.
